MSM Peer Navigator

Reports to the Clinic Manager and LGBT Program Manager

This is a temporary part-time position (ends in June 2011). $13/hour

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Conduct outreach at venues where Asian & Pacific Islander (A&PI) men - especially men who have sex with men - congregate throughout New York City to recruit them to HIV testing and other agency services.
• Assist in navigating clients to be linked to primary care and specialty services, mental health, substance use as well as prevention services.
• Assist in HIV testing events and other health fair coordination.
• Work collaboratively with agency staff from various departments.
• Attend all required meeting including training and supervision meeting.
• Collect all required data and submit all required documents such as timesheet, data collection form and reports in a timely manner following agency protocol.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Commitment to reduce HIV infection among Asian & Pacific Islander (A&PI) community is required
• Energetic and motivated to achieve the agency mission with team is required
• Ability to recruit gay identified or non gay identified men with HIV high risk behaviors from A&PI communities is required
• Availability on evenings and weekends is required.
• Ability to work with diverse populations (i.e. MSM, gay, bisexual, transgender, various A&PI ethnicities and religions).
• Fluency in A&PI language is preferred.
• High energy with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability with using public transportation is required.
• Ability to communicate in English required.
• Ability to use common office computer software (Word) in window environment required.
• Ability to use internet required.
• Ability to work within organizational structure with multi disciplinary team environment required.
