Men's Health Coordinator

Reports to:  LGBT Program: Community Health Manager and HIV/STI Services Manager
Exempt

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Recruit clients—High-risk Asian & Pacific Islander (A&PI) gay and non-gay identified Men Who Have Sex with Men ages 21+ and their partners for Gay Men’s Health Services.
  • Provide HIV/STI/Hepatitis risk assessment & develop client-centered, risk-reduction plans, conduct HIV/STI/Hepatitis screening including various types of specimen collection and phlebotomy services with clients in accordance with the agency’s protocol for on-site & field testing.
  • Ensure clients appropriately access needed medical services.
  • Assess clients for needed services; provide referrals and assistance in navigating health-related services within APICHA and throughout the community.
  • Develop collaborations within the A&PI community and represent the agency at various venues to promote services to fulfill APICHA’s mission.
  • Review accuracy of client data and maintain up-to-date client-related records, complete data entry to agency database(s) and meet deadlines for required documentation according to the protocols and standards of the agency.
  • Provide individual and group supervision to peer educators on their progress, achievements and challenges with client recruitment and other program activities.
  • Participate in overall program evaluation and Continuing Quality Improvement activities.
  • Develop and monitor internet prevention outreach messages , identify high-risk venues and community events where high-risk A&PI gay men/MSM live, work and socialize.
  • Function as part of multi-disciplinary team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health education or human service related field required.
  • Successfully complete Chief Medical Officer’s training/certification to conduct rapid HIV antibody/STI/Hepatitis testing within 30 days of hire required.   Certification to conduct phlebotomy in 90 days of hire required.
  • Familiarity with CDC DEBI is plus.  Experience with case management and/or risk reduction counseling preferred.
  • Familiarity of A&PI gay/MSM issues that impact HIV/STD/Hepatitis risk taking behaviors preferred.
  • Fluency in one of Asian languages is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to communicate comfortably on sexual, substance use and mental health issue required.
  • Ability to work with staff and clients with diverse background required.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office, Word, Outlook and Excel required
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Must be available on some nights and weekends required
