JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Public Affairs Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Development
Position Summary: An important member of APICHA’s team that is responsible for building funding resources. The coordinator will provide day-to-day support of policy advocacy and community engagement activities. This is an exempt position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate community events and site visits
  • Recruit and supervise volunteers for community engagement projects
  • Write and design public information scripts and materials including newsletters,  press releases, public service announcements and media advisories
  • Maintain database of policy advocacy contacts and donors
  • Assist in scheduling meetings with policy makers
  • Prepare activity reports
  • Prepare and send correspondence, including acknowledgment letters to donors
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public health or equivalent experience
  • At least one year of full-time work experience, preferably in not-for-profit setting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with one or more of the following groups a plus: Asians and Pacific Islanders, immigrants, LGBTQI a plus
  • Competence in use of social media
  • Fluency in one or more Asian languages a plus
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to occasionally work during evenings and weekends
  • Must be competent in common office applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Publisher.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge 7 a plus.
