Taking Care of Communities

APICHA is committed to providing access to high quality HIV/AIDS programs and services specifically targeting A&PIs. We are the only community based organization to have an HIV primary clinic complemented by prevention, bilingual case management, HIV counseling and testing and supportive services. As we move towards the future, we envision APICHA to be a premier health care and social service provider, particularly for immigrants and their families.

Local and Global Connections

APICHA is a valuable community asset and resource. We have created an empowering and accepting place for all – especially lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender A&PI youth and other vulnerable groups within our communities. Here, they can explore their identities in a safe and secure environment with guidance and support from professionals. Additionally, we are a resource to those who want to learn more about HIV/AIDS among A&PIs. We have hosted a number of international guests, elected officials, and policymakers at the city, state and federal level. Our knowledge about HIV/AIDS and A&PI communities is borne out of experience and a deep commitment to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

  • Food pantry and vouchers to eligible clients

Philosophy of Care

Three distinctive features set apart APICHA’s approach to care:

  • We strive to be culturally and linguistically competent in every way – to be attuned to the unique characteristics and complex needs of every A&PI community.
  • We believe in a holistic, person-centered concept of wellness rather than merely focusing on and treating a disease.
  • We are committed to making our vital services easily and immediately accessible through our one-stop shop model.

People We Serve

Although APICHA focuses on the A&PI community, we recognize that HIV/AIDS is not bounded by race, gender, age or sexuality. Therefore, we care for and provide services to all those who come to us for support and assistance. On average, we provide over 18,000 services to 1,700 individuals who are both HIV negative and positive. We also reach over 45,000 individuals through our outreach activities and another 50,000 via social marketing including a subway ad campaign funded by the Centers for Disease Control.
