  1. What does YMSM mean? Why don't you just say "gay"?
YMSM stands for Young Men who have Sex with Men. YMSM is used because not all men who have sex with men consider themselves to be gay. In addition, they can have wives or girlfriends and/or are also attracted to women.

  2. What does A&PI stand for?
A&PI stands for Asian and Pacific Islander. This is a term used for anyone who is of Asian and/or Pacific Islander descent.

  3. What does APICHA mean? Why is it important for APIs to be concerned with HIV/AIDS?
APICHA is Asian & Pacific Islander Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Inc. We're located at 150 Lafayette Street, 6th Floor in New York City. The YMSM project serves the New York City, Long Island, and New Jersey areas. A&PIs have been overlooked in the discussion on HIV/AIDS and we are being affected by it. The infection rate of HIV within the A&PI community is alarmingly high. We urgently need to increase the awareness of A&PIs and prevent further transmission of HIV.

  4. I think I might be gay, but I'm not sure. How do I know?
There isn't really a surefire way of knowing you're gay. That's a decision that has to be made by you. Being gay means that you are attracted to members of the same sex. However, that can apply to bisexual people as well. It's really all up to you what you decide to label yourself as, if you choose to label yourself. Remember, sexuality is fluid and there are no set rules for it. Just be patient with yourself and try to keep an open mind.
