East Elmhurst, NY — State Senator Jose Peralta announced a $50,000 state allocation to Apicha Community Health Center, an organization that provides affordable healthcare for vulnerable New Yorkers. The funding will be used to help Apicha expands its services and move into a new site in Jackson Heights.

“I am very glad I was able to secure this state allocation for Apicha Community Health Center as the organization will soon open its new location in Jackson Heights to offer services to our communities.” said Senator Peralta. “By having a presence in Jackson Heights, Apicha will be able to assist, among many others, immigrants, LGBTQ community, women and children.”

“We are extremely grateful to State Senator Peralta for securing state funding to support our Jackson Heights expansion,” said Apicha CHC CEO, Therese R. Rodriguez. “Our Jackson Heights site aims to significantly improve health outcomes for LGBTQ people, immigrants, women and their children, and the entire community. Through adult and pediatric primary care, mental health, dental services, and a neighborhood meeting space we strive to enhance the lives of all those we serve.”

The state allocation will support a Patient Associate, who will assist with the enrollment of community residents into Apicha’s health services. The patient associate will ensure a friendly and efficient registration process that will lead to quality care.

As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), Apicha Community Health Center (CHC) is a vital primary care provider to the people we serve and part of the bedrock of the neighborhoods where we reside. Apicha’s doors are open to all and we provide care regardless of ability to pay.
