Sunny Pride – celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride in Sunnyside, Queens

Friday, June 14, 7:30-9 PM

Assembling in Lowery Plaza at 40^th Street/Queens Boulevard

March between Lowery and Bliss Plazas under the 7 train (40^th to 46^th Streets)

We will gather at Lowery Plaza and hear from a few speakers on LGBTQ+ equality and the attacks on our communities.  We will march from Lowery Plaza to Bliss Plaza (46^th Street) where we will have a celebration, with performances, local craftspeople and community organizations tabling.  The march route between the two plazas, through the parking areas will have a pink/purple line painted.

With all the attacks on the transgender community across the nation, including murders, attacks and anti-transgender legislation, and the political and rhetorical assault on the LGBTQ+ community utilizing “grooming” language, it is time to stand up and say not in Sunnyside, not in Queens.  We are coming together to show support for the LGBTQ+ community and to proclaim that Sunnyside is welcoming to all people.  We will have political and governmental speeches at Lowery Plaza before the March then we will march to Bliss Plaza where we will have a celebration with music and performances.
